Mental Health
Why is it so important?
- Mental-health problems have an individual, social, academic, financial and governmental impact, throughout life (Kohn et al., 2004);
Did you know that
- It is estimated that around 10-20% of people of age between 10 and 24 years old suffers from a mental-health problem (WHO,2021).
- About 60% of mental-health problems go unnoticed through lifespan (WHO, 2001).
Why could this be happening?
- Mental-health-related stigma is one of the reasons for this (Chaudoir & Fisher, 2010), amongst others, such as lack of knowledge (Tomezyk et al., 2018).
- More recently, relevant literature reviews have demonstrated the potential of art-based programs to reduce mental-health-related stigma (Gaiha et al., 2021).
And that is how our project was born! To learn more about the project’s different phases
